If you're following the story of Ramos and Compean, the two U.S. Border Agents who have been imprisoned for pursuing and shooting in the buttocks an illegal alien drug smuggler, you know that the latest on the controversy, thanks to the persistence of Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, is that it was discovered that Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, the Mexican drug smuggler, was granted six border crossing passes to enter the U.S. - including two after he was linked by federal law enforcement to a previous marijuana smuggling effort.
"The whole episode stinks, and now we are beginning to see evidence of just how rotten it really is," Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-CA.
U.S. Attorney John Sutton said that the illegal alien smuggler was not, in fact, permitted to travel unescorted into the U.S. it surfaced that he may have been involved with an earlier drug shipment. "From there on out, he was escorted personally by federal agents to the U.S."
Excuse me? He certainly wasn't with an escort when he was pursued by Ramos and Compean and the other border agents! So why is Sutton and others so bent on the severity of this case - 11 and 12 years in prison for Ramos and Compean?
And -- the Zetas were trained as elite commandos by U.S. forces to combat the drug cartels, but they have switched sides and are working for the drug smugglers in the border area.
