It is a day to truly celebrate! And what patriotic American doesn't celebrate this important day without fireworks, food and fun -- and a genuine attitude of gratitude -- for the liberties we enjoy, for those who established our great nation, and for those who have sacrificed in order that we may continue to live in freedom.
Not only those who have fought on the battlefield, but most of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence, suffered tremendous personal loss, some even their lives, to secure this 'more perfect union.'
All the
Signers signed this founding document
under the closing statement:
"And for the support of this
Declaration, with a firm reliance on the
protection of divine Providence, we
mutually pledge to each other our Lives,
our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."
John Hancock must have been quite a man, for who can help but notice how big his signature is, of which he said after signing, “There, I guess King George will be able to read that!"
Benjamin Franklin said after signing, “We must all hang together, or most assuredly we will all hang separately."

The Founders understood the value of liberty...and the risks. For whenever you 'allow' such liberty as outlined in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, there will be those who will abuse it, either by living as lawless as they can, or by failing to protect the liberties we enjoy for future generations.
There is a story, often told, that upon exiting the Constitutional Convention Benjamin Franklin was approached by a citizen asking what sort of government the delegates had created. His answer was: "A republic, if you can keep it."
If we value liberty like our Founding Fathers did, we will be able to discern efforts to take it from us, and be willing to fight in order to prevent that from happening -- by making our voice heard in the public square, in the voting booth, and putting feet to our words on the battlefield, if necessary. We also will be grateful.
So, it is to all of those who have gone before us to secure the blessings of liberty, and to all those who are working and fighting to secure these blessings, that we dedicate this month of Liberty to, at WOMANTalk.
Please join us as we express our gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy here in America, both on the show and to our troops, and also expose efforts to take away our freedoms as a nation, and as individuals.
